TRI-AURA

In 1996, my wife Frances and I were commissioned by The Science Museum, London, to create a temporary installation on screens which covered the work on a new Gallery.

The 3 panels, Earth, Wind and Fire, were made by selectively electroplating and contouring textiles which made the plated areas conductive to allow the control of proximity and touch sensors. The electronic information then modulated chosen sounds and light sequences. The installation was expected to last 'a few weeks' by the more cynical of employees: it lasted the full 3 months - and still worked!
